We first see a close up of a letter with Elle written on it, straight away we can tell that the letter holds some sort of importance. The close up of the name indicates that maybe Elle is a significant character to the movie and we start to ask questions about who she is. Next we can see a close up of the back of a girls head, we can tell that she is blonde and a typical girl because she is brushing her hair. This creates mystery because we assume that maybe this girl is Elle.
An establishing shot is used on the Delta sign which tells us that the movie may be set at a university. The establishing shot also tells us that the characters are relatively young and maybe teenagers.
When we go inside the house a birds eye view is used to show how busy the house is. this tells us that the main character hold a lot of importance because it seems like everyone in the house is there for her. It also shows how young the characters are because they all there to party. Editing
Cross- cutting is used between the letter on the floor and the girl on the chair, this tells us that there is a connection between the two and shows that maybe the letter is for the girl.

When the door opens slow motion is used to show the importance of the card but also for the audience to take in the surroundings, which show typical girls hanging out with each other. It also makes us focus more on the card and creates questions such as who's name is on the card? and What is the card for?Mise-En-Scene
The costumes that the girls are wearing inside the house are all typical girly clothes. This also links in with the props used a hair brush and a 'Homecoming Queen' banner which tell the audience that the main character is very much a girly girl.

As the opening sequence goes on the credits appear, the credits are in pink bubbly writing which link in with the characters personality. The title of the movie appears over the girls blonde hair which contrasts to the name of the movie. The setting of the movie is in a sorority and frat house on a university campus. This tells the audience that the characters are in their youth. Its also a stereotypical setting for a university.
Sound
When we walk through the house with one of the characters we can hear faint high pitched squeals which represents the girls. This shows them to be having fun and enjoying themselves. It also flows throughout the opening sequence to show how happy the girls are.The soundtrack that goes with the opening sequence relates typically to girls, as there is a female singer, singing about herself. The lyrics also consist of 'perfect world' this shows how the main character thinks her life is perfect. The lyrics 'perfect world' also link in with the slow motion editing as it shows how the girl doesn't want her day to end she wants it to go on forever.
