Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
My preliminary project is to show different types of shots that we have to use during our opening sequence. We were given three types of shots that we had to use during it and then we had to take this and use them in our opening sequence. The preliminary project is used to find out about the different shots and how they work within a sequence. My preliminary project isn't up to full standards because we only really focused on the shot types instead of editing and music. Whereas in my final project we focused on all editing, music and shot types.
However editing my final project was lot harder. My final project took a lot longer to edit because when we were editing we realised that some of the shots didn't fit with the rest of the sequenence which meant we had to re-film parts. We also had to use different tools and software on premier pro such as changing the colour of the shots and slow some down. While I was filming my final project we had to use new equipment that we didn't use in the preliminary task. For example we used a fig rig, sound recorder which helped us to stabilise the shots and also to pick up smaller sounds. When we chose the music for the preliminary project it was only one backing track whereas for the opening sequence we had to find more then one backing track to create the beat. We also had to add in sound effects to create the tense atmosphere we wanted.

In the preliminary project we used an 180 degree rule which is when the characters in the scene are always on the same side as the camera. We used this when Sam and Michael were sitting on the table talking, the camera turns to the be on the other side of the table but the characters are always on the same side. We didn't include this in our final project because the characters were always walking around and there was little dialogue.

We used a match on action which is when we switch from one shot to another but of the same thing such as in the preliminary project we used this when we Sam walk through the door and then we see him walk throw the same door. We used this within our final project when the we see the charters from behind walking around the graveyard and we then switch to the front of the charters while they are walking.

We also had to include a shot reverse shot in the preliminary project this is show when we see Sam and Michael talking across the table. We chose to use this is in our final project when the characters are talking to each other by the shed, we chose to include this because we can seethe different characters emotions.

What kind of institution might distribute your media product and why?
The distribution company we have chosen for our opening sequence is Blum House studios, we went with Blum House because they are known for the distribution of horror movies. Blum House studios has distributed films such as the Paranormal Activity's which was a success so we decided to use Blum House as they have distributed such successful horror movies. Our opening sequence will be funded by the BFI film funding as it isn't a typical horror, it also is a British film which means it eligible for funding by the BFI. Our opening sequence will be rated an 15 by the BBFC, this wouldn't effect the sales of the film because most horror movies are targeted at an older audience such as 15 and upwards. The film will be rated a 15 as it contains some gore and killing. Our film will be screened in Multiplex cinemas so different audiences can watch it,after this we would release it on DVD as they have a wide audience.
The production for the opening sequence is called 'Howl' we have decided to call it this because it fits in well with the genre of a horror. The logo is a wolf and the title comes up in smoke to create an eerie effect to it, this is a suitable production company for our opening sequence because it shows that it will be a horror. A production company helps fund the production for example our horror opening sequence. When we put together the title sequence we put the production company first as they are the company that organizes the essentials in order to film the horror opening sequence, we then chose to put the distribution company second as they help release the opening sequence to cinemas.
